What is a Telegram link?

A Telegram link is a short web address in the t.me format that opens a chat, channel, group or bot directly in Telegram. Anyone who taps it lands in the right place without searching for a username. You can put it in a website button, an Instagram bio, an email signature, a QR code or an ad.

The part after ?text= is a pre-filled message. The visitor sees it already typed in the message box and only has to press send, which makes it much more likely that they start the conversation.

Regular link or deep link?

Use the regular t.me link almost everywhere. It works in any browser, shows a preview page if Telegram is not installed, and is safe to post on websites and social networks.

The tg:// deep link skips the browser and opens the Telegram app straight away. It only works on devices where Telegram is installed, and many platforms do not make it clickable, so keep it for apps, QR codes and buttons where you control the experience.

How to use the generator

Pick what the link should do, type the username or phone number, and add a message if you want one. The links update as you type. Press Copy next to the version you need, or press Test the link to check it in Telegram before you publish it. Spaces, emoji and non-English text in the message are encoded for you.

For bots, the start parameter lets you track where a user came from, for example a referral code or a campaign name. For channels, the post number is the last number in the link you get from Copy Link on a post.

Yes. Use t.me/+ followed by the number with its country code, for example t.me/+15551234567. The chat only opens if that account allows people to find it by phone number.

How do I add a pre-filled message to a Telegram link?

What is the difference between a t.me link and a tg:// link?
